Blendon Mock Trial
Hello fellow Blendon students! Have you ever heard about Mock Trial around school or on the announcements? Well, Mock Trial is basically its name: a mock trial. If you enjoy acting or wanting to become an attorney or lawyer as a future career, make sure to check out Mock Trial next year! What the participants of Mock Trial do depends on which position they are in. There are witnesses, attorneys, and editors/helpers.
This year, the Mock Trial trial is about a young man named Johnny Tremain who is accused treason against the king of England in Revolutionary times. The prosecutor attorneys are trying to convince the judge that Johnny Tremain is guilty of treason. The defense attorneys are trying to prove Johnny Tremain is innocent. The witnesses have to memorize their lines and responses to the attorneys. The editors/helpers are the people not actually participating in the actual trial, but help the attorneys and witnesses with advice and help them create questions and responses.
On February 24, 2017 (Friday), the attorneys and witnesses will go to the Ohio Court House to have a mock trial. The two defense attorneys are Ethyn Allen and Joe Martin. The two prospector attorneys are Camryn Ford and Lilia GarcÃa. The defense witnesses are Lili Hahn (Johnny Tremain), Cassie Reichert (Cilla Lapham), and Nathaniel Whittaker (Sam Adams). The prosecution witnesses are Cierra Clark (Dove), Ella Dickerson (Colonel Francis Smith), and Layla Goebler (Ephiram Lapham). Make sure to cheer them on as they go to the Ohio Court House on February 24!
